What is lamination? Why lamination?

What is the working principle of lamination?

Simply put, it is the plastic film coated with a good combination of agent and printed materials in the heating, pressure conditions to form a synthetic product processing technology. What are the factors affecting the laminating process?

I believe that many of my peers who are in the process of laminating have encountered these problems during the laminating process: the film and the material adhesion is not strong, the product after laminating will be blistering, film phenomenon, etc. Usually, this situation involves the type of paper.

Tip 1 Thickness of laminating film

The thickness of the film and the thickness of the material will affect the laminating effect. The maximum laminating thickness of the MEFU laminator can reach 28mm.

Tip 2 Laminating temperature

If the laminating temperature is too high, the film tends to shrink and does not cover the entire width of the paper, and the surface of the material will not be aesthetically pleasing due to the shrinkage of the film.

On the other hand, if the laminating temperature is too low, the adhesive layer will not be able to melt completely, which will lead to blistering after laminating, and the adhesive layer will not be able to combine with the ink layer, resulting in failure to laminate or poor adhesion.

Laminating temperature is crucial to the effect of laminating. How should we set the laminating temperature when laminating?

The preset temperature of MEFU series cold laminator is usually set at 45℃ for low temperature laminating (it takes about 10-20 minutes to reach the working temperature). Cold laminating generally does not need to be heated, but if heated to 40-50 ℃ cold laminating effect will be better. The working temperature of hot laminating film is generally set at 95℃, and the maximum temperature is not more than 120℃.

Tip 3 Laminating speed

If the speed of laminating is too fast, the adhesive layer is not yet completely melted, which will lead to poor laminating, blistering and so on. Laminating speed is too slow, the film surface is heated for too long, but also easy to cause film shrinkage, affecting the quality of the film. At the same time, the paper is heated for too long, which will cause the paper to curl after lamination.

Tip 4 laminating pressure

When the laminating pressure is insufficient, the adhesive layer can not be completely fused with the ink layer, resulting in blistering after laminating, laminating is not secure.
Please note that there is a certain correlation between laminating speed and temperature, the faster the speed, the faster the heat dissipation of the rubber rollers, please choose the appropriate temperature and speed of laminating.
