Is laminating a necessity?
I’m just starting my sticker business and I have a few designs ready for printing and cutting. I’m not quite ready to sell though (I’m still testing out which paper I like best). I was wondering if laminating my stickers was truly necessary or not. I do not have a laminator and I wouldn’t have the first clue as to where to get one, or which one would work best. Any suggestions would be a tremendous help. Thanks 🙂

It is necessary! Laminating is one of the most effective ways to improve the quality and durability of printed materials. Ordinary stickers are not durable and can easily get wet, torn, and dirty. Laminating is scratch-proof, smudge-proof, UV-proof, water-proof, and dirt-proof, making the world of sticker preservation longer and more beautiful.
- Durability
Customized stickers with lamination are more durable than those without lamination. Laminating is waterproof, stain-resistant, UV-resistant, and less prone to color loss and distortion, so it usually lasts longer. Customized stickers without lamination are relatively thin and less durable than those with lamination.
- Appearance
Laminating custom stickers have brighter colors and more distinctive patterns because the film layer covering them prevents the colors from fading and the patterns from blurring. The surface of non-coated customized stickers is thinner and the printed effect may be slightly inferior.
- Environment
As the laminated customized stickers are more durable and water-resistant, they can be used in harsher environments, such as outdoors, in humid environments, or places often in contact with water, etc.
Unlaminated customized stickers are comparatively more fragile can’t withstand harsh environments, and have a narrower scope of application.
